Bbbbbrrrrrrrr... the temperature this morning was 1 degree again!!! We have been snowed in so many times this winter I lost count. I love getting snowed in - it's an excuse to stay home and get work done. Animals who hibernate during the winter are SO clever - what a great way to spend the chilly winter. During the months of January & February I hibernate in my studio creating new collections for trade shows & manufacturers, reading blogs, and making business plans for the upcoming year. I curl up in front of my fireplace at night and dream of warm weather and beach days.
The snow has inspired me to stray from my normally very bright vivid colors to create a more subdued "White Collection" - full of neutrals, beige & grey and of course white. This new collection with be unveiled at the SURTEX 2015 show, along with some other pastel textural designs I have been playing around with. I am also looking forward to seeing the final products of the deals that I have been working on since last spring, which should come to fruition during the next few months. That is when the REAL excitement begins - seeing your art in an unexpected place! I'll never forget the first time I experienced that feeling of delight in knowing my art is "somewhere else" other than in my head or studio.... Years ago I did a line of hand-painted ties; a friend who lived in Italy called me saying she just waited on a customer who was wearing one of my ties - "che meraviqlia"!
